Writing with an added purpose: 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge.

Sometimes the greatest source of strength comes from unity.

Strength through unity, and the "30 Hub in 30 Days challenge".

"Strength in unity". This is one of my favorite quotes. It's one of the most honest and profound quotes that I've heard. One of the things that I enjoy about life is how people come together as a unit when it's deemed necessary. There's something about having someone or a group of other people there to push us when we need it. You may ask; "What does this have to do with anything"? I'm currently doing the "30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge" here on Hubpages. I never imagined that I would be able to turn out 30 articles in a 30 day time span. The idea alone was hard to fathom, and I'm still not out of the woods yet. I still have a few more weeks to go until the challenge officially ends. One of the things that makes this particular challenge special to me is that I'm not doing it alone. Remember the "strength in unity" quote that I mentioned earlier? It's definitely being applied to my approach on this challenge. It's also given me an added sense of purpose to write and create. Please read on.

Brief history of my time on Hubpages.

I've officially been a member on Hubpages for 10 months now. One of my good writing buddies from another content writing site(Triond), was the one who originally told me about Hubpages. After giving it a little bit of thought, I decided to give Hubpages a shot. I produced several hubs in my first few months on the site, but found myself receiving little to no views. I also saw absolutely no earnings coming in whatsoever. Discouraged by all of this, I decided to take a step back from Hubpages. Looking back at this decision now, I feel that it was the right choice at the right time. Hindsight is 20/20 right? After giving Hubpages a rest, I decided to do a bit of research of my own on how Hubpages operates. I wanted to learn how the earnings worked on the site, and the best ways to bring traffic to my writings. I spent several nights on both Google and Hubpages. This time was spent doing a lot of reading and research. I must say now that the time spent doing research on the Hubpages has paid off. With the added knowledge and some newly acquired friends from Hubpages, I got myself back into the game writing on Hubpages. This time I was equipped with more knowledge, and more ideas to contribute to my hubs.

How the challenge came about.

Upon getting back active on Hubpages and writing out articles from time to time, I was looking for a way to get my earnings up even more. I had seen previous posts, hubs, articles, and topics related to the "30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge". Initially I felt like this was a feat that I couldn't pull off. I knew it required a certain amount of dedication to complete something like this. So what happened next? I decided to do my own personal challenge that I titled "10 Hubs in 10 Days". I committed myself to writing out ten hubs over a 10 day time span. As hard as this sounded to me initially, it's nothing compared to the 30 day challenge. Before tackling the challenge alone, I decided to ask if anyone wanted to join me on my personal mission. I received several responses with most of them saying no. However, there was one person who responded back with a yes. Her username on Hubpages is Karen Hellier. Karen joined the challenge a few days later than I did, but she did her best to write out 10 hubs in the limited amount of time she had. I was personally able to accomplish my personal goal, but Karen fell a couple of hubs shorts due to the time constraints. After completing the challenge, Karen asked me if I was interested in doing the 30 in 30 challenge during the summer. I happily agreed and said yes. We officially got the ball rolling.

Getting the ball rolling, and other members joining.

After communicating via e-mail and changing the date to start the challenge on several occasions, we finally agreed on a date to start on. The start date would be June 15, 2012. Since I had a couple of months to prepare for the challenge, I started brainstorming in my head ideas that I could write about for this challenge. I was looking to prepare my mentally and spiritually for this rigorous journey. I wrote about this topic several times in my personal blog, and even told friends and family about the mission we were trying to accomplish. About a week before the challenge was set to start, Karen asked on the forums if anyone wanted to join us. Thinking that hardly anyone would be willing to join, I continued to prepare myself. However, to my great delight, several members on Hubpages were eager to join us. See, "strength in unity" comes into play once again. As of the right now, the members of Hubpages doing the challenge include: Myself, Karen Hellier, Redberry Sky, Mr. Williams, Ellebee, SusieQ42, Cherylvanhoorn, Chris Hugh, Melchi, and Angel198625. I hope that I didn't miss anyone. Days before the challenge began, I was able to recruit one of my friends from Facebook who goes by the name, beingwell here on Hubpages. She runs several blogs, so I figured she wouldn't have the time to do it. However, she readily joined the challenge when I brought it to her attention. The team of writers had officially been formed.

An added sense of purpose.

Going through this challenge with others gives me an added sense of purpose to write. Sure I definitely want to complete the challenge for myself, but I also want to do it for the members who decided to do the challenge as well. I don't like letting others down in my everyday life, and I don't plan on doing it with this challenge either. I like the fact that everyone is so eager to help and support one another throughout this month long right of passage if you will. I also like the fact that while I'm creating and coming up with ideas to write about, I know that there are other members scattered all over the world who are doing the same exact thing. We are still early into the process, but things are going well thus far. I'm trying to take all of this in and enjoy it as much as possible. I have a notebook full of topics that I've written down, and plan on writing about. I'm also coming up with ideas daily, which helps even more in having things to write about. Coming up with ideas isn't the hard part, executing and organizing them into a quality hub is the biggest challenge. Doing this challenge isn't just about earning a few more dollars. It's about supporting others, getting my thoughts out there, and hopefully leaving a mark on Hubpages. I want to thank everyone who decided to join the challenge, and I wish you all the best of luck this month and beyond. Lets get it done!
