Introduction.

Although gym memberships are still the most popular way for keeping fit, many people are looking for ways to get fit that require little time and money. There are various infomercials constantly played on television that advertise the latest quick and inexpensive workout products. One of those products that was advertised frequently a few years back was the "Perfect.Pushup". I received the "Perfect.Pushup" as a birthday gift in the year 2010. Today I'm going to give some information this product's history, and my personal thoughts on it. This is intended for informational purposes only. I hope you enjoy reading.

History and features.

The Perfect.Pushup is a home based workout that includes two pushup handles. The program was developed by US Navy Seal, Alden Mills. Alden Mill's NAVY platoon was chosen for a study to determine why SEALs suffered from high injury rates. The conclusion was drawn that injury rates were linked to old-age training methods. Functional training became incorporated, and Mills developed this product in order to achieve better results from pushup workouts. The product is marketed and distributed by Perfect. Fitness -- a company based in Northern California. Other product lines included by the company are the Perfect Pullup, and Perfect Counter. Features of the Perfect.Pushup handles include:

  • Ball bearing rotation system
  • Solid construction
  • Non-slip base
  • Comfort grips

The Perfect Pushup can be purchased in three different levels. The Basic version, the V2 version, and the Mobile Unit. I own the basic version. The goal of the Perfect.Pushup is to engage more muscles in the arms, chest, shoulders, and back. It's basically intended to engage all of the muscles that standard pushups don't. The handles provide a natural movement of your arms, while also reducing strain on your joints. Here are some added claims and benefits of the Perfect.Pushup Basic:

  • Unique Rotating Handles.
  • For Beginner to Advanced Users.
  • Engages More Muscles.
  • Maximizes Strength.
  • Reduces Joint Strain.

21 day workout schedule.

One of the claims made by the makers of the Perfect.Pushup -- is that if used correctly, it can increase your pushup max in 21 days. The products comes with a workout schedule that users should follow for 21 days. The 21 days are spread out over days of using the product, along with rest days as well. The schedule consists of days where users do 2 minute workout drills from various positions with the handles. The positions included are: Regular Position, Wide Position, and Close Position. Each workout should be done with good form in order to maximize results, and determine your max. If users struggle doing regular workouts with the Perfect.Pushup, the makers advise doing knee modification workouts until enough strength is built up for the regular workouts.

Personal opinions, along with pros and cons.

If you're new to doing pushups, this product will probably discourage you at first. It may even surprise you if you are used to doing normal pushups as well. I had been doing pushups long before I acquired this product. However, the first time I used it I noticed a big difference in the difficulty between doing normal pushups, and doing pushups using this product. Once I was able to build up my strength a bit, it became easier to use the Perfect.Pushup. I do feel that the 21 day max schedule works pretty effectively. I only done the 21 day workout a few times, and I found that my pushup max did increase. Be warned that this schedule gets more difficult as you get into the latter days. The number of pushups required in the drills get longer, and there are chair modification workouts included that add extra intensity. Overall I do feel this product works if used correctly, and users stick with it.

My only problem with the Perfect.Pushup is boredom. It's fairly exciting in the first few months of using it. However, like a lot of other workout routines, it becomes mundane and boring with time. It's probably been a year since I've done the 2 minute drills, and I don't use the Perfect.Pushup as frequently as I once did. I use it a few times a week to complement other workouts that I do, but the handles often just sit in the corner of my room. Maybe writing this review will be an added motivation to get me doing the 2 minute drills again. That would definitely be an added benefit of doing this review.

The verdict.

If you are looking for a home based exercise that doesn't require too much of your of time, I would recommend this product. Also, if you're willing to invest nearly $30 to $40 dollars to get stronger, I would suggest purchasing this product. However, be warned that you may become bored with using it. There also are more cheaper and effective ways to workout and become stronger. Therefore, it's not necessary to invest in a Perfect.Pushup. If you're used to doing regular pushups using your own hands, that's totally fine. My goal is to give my thoughts and inform those not familiar with the Perfect.Pushup. This workout tool will definitely bring you results if used correctly. If you do decide to purchase it, don't get discouraged in the beginning stages. You will get better at using it once your strength gets built up. Just like anything else in life, time and effort is required. Thanks for viewing.
